Welcome! I’m Amy.

I’ve been learning how to keep a house and make it a home for the better part of a decade. My vision to steward land came to me while riding in a car with a friend near my hometown in Missouri when I was just 20-years-old. I thought to myself, “How can this be? I want to have a career and yatta, yatta yatta.” Fast forward a few years and I’ve found myself missing those simple things in life and appreciating that vision. The home I grew up in as a girl was my mother’s—she kept it tidy and wholesome, and even though every meal wasn’t from scratch, we always had food on the table. I may not have picked up a ton of kitchen skills from my mother or own land, but I have worked diligently to acquire the skillset a person needs in order to operate a home. I taught myself how to bake, to sew, to can and how to preserve foods, to garden—and not just throwing potatoes out the window and watching them sprout all by themselves (more on that here), to make furniture, soap, to paint and so on.

These days I’m taking better care of our garden spaces, planting food that we plan to save throughout the winter, and attempt to become evermore self-sufficient. More and more I am finding joy in getting out there and getting my hands dirty and putting in the time. All of this work has continuously pushed me towards a more fulfilling life and what that means to me. My husband, José, who you will likely see pictured and mentioned often on this publication, has been a wonderful loving husband and team player on this journey. He’s been there all along the way for all of my antics and has oftentimes helped me perfect my skills—and teach me new ones! He’s my best friend and knows how to push me to be better, and I him.

On this newsletter you will likely see many topics, as my interests are many—you can expect anything from homemaking to the metaphysical to the whimsical. Honestly, I just enjoy learning new things and am humbled by the process that pushes me to continue to reach for new heights. Working towards a life of dignity and meaning takes courage, persistence and humility. I’d venture to say that many of us are in the exact same boat, some perhaps a bit more experienced—others who are just learning for the first time and some that just so happen to be on the same wavelength altogether.

Wherever you find yourself on the path of life, it is my honor to be a small part of it—after all, we are merely walking each other home.

For you.

Ultimately, I want this newsletter to be of great value to you. That being said, we’ll keep it very easy to subscribe and very easy to unsubscribe—just a quick link at the end of each newsletter will manage your account as needed. You’ll have control of it all.

Can’t wait to join in this new adventure with you. It’s going to be a beautiful journey as we return to what it is that truly makes us human—a dignified life that has purpose.
